“After more than ten years of helping oobe grow and change, we shared the director’s pride in completing the sale to Fujitsu. The best part is that it isn’t goodbye, as all three founders continue to trust us with their personal tax affairs & accounting.”
– Savneet Sodhi (Savi), Director, Advice 9
Highlights
- Ten-plus years of strategic accounting, including company set-up, R&D tax incentives, and employee share ownership scheme.
- Financial compliance support through multimillion-dollar sale with over 2000 due diligence questions.
- Ongoing personal financial accounting for all three founding directors.
Letting you focus on business instead of finances
oobe was always ahead of the curve with the way it provided professional IT services and consulting, reinventing how businesses engage with technology providers through product innovation and professional excellence. Knowing they were an IT company, and not tax or accounting professionals, they wanted to outsource these ‘distractions’ so they could focus on their business.
For over ten years we worked with oobe on day-to-day accounting, tax and payroll, and more complex strategic accounting advice and support. We provided accounting advice around company set-up, establishing an employee share ownership scheme, and a separate payroll company to meet their requirements as they grew from a team of 5 in Canberra, to over 200 around Australia.
Finally, we advised & supported oobe through the complex financial due diligence and tax implications of a multimillion-dollar sale to Fujitsu.
Expert accounting advice from someone who cared to learn our business
Over our more than ten years working together, Savi always engaged with our business as a team member rather than a jump-in, jump-out accountant, and it showed in his advice.
Financial due diligence can be more intense than an ATO audit. It’s hard to imagine how we would have answered the more than 600 – 700 financial and payroll questions throughout the process of sale without Savi’s accounting expertise combined with his intimate knowledge of our business.
As the due diligence was an audit process by some of Australia’s top-tier firms, we accepted advice to engage a similarly top-tier accounting firm to support the sales process. Savi and Advice 9 liaised as needed with the confidence to question advice they disagreed with. On several occasions, Savi’s deep understanding of our business allowed him to identify better solutions than the much larger accounting firm.
“Savi can help you avoid the pitfalls of business. We outsourced all non-core functions so we could focus on the IT that we do really well. Savi was always one step ahead of where we were, researching our best options and generally taking care of all our tax and accounting needs.”
-Stuart, Founding Co-Director – oobe
An accountant we can trust
Over the years we have worked together, we engaged in some complex accounting endeavors. Savi and Advice 9 know their tax and accounting as well as the right specialists to ask or introduce us to when needed. Through Savi’s professional connections and expert research skills, we always felt we were in safe hands.
Beyond our strategic corporate accounting, we all have our family corporate structures with Savi. Finances get complicated at our level, both personally and in business, but we rest assured that he has put the rigor into ensuring the correct set- up. He’s also a clear communicator, so we always know what to do, even if we don’t always understand the technical tax details.
“He will be the accountant for our family forever. We have been given no reason to look elsewhere. He has intimate knowledge of our family corporate structure now, and he’s given us nothing but comfort that we are in the right place.“
-Stephen, Personal Client & Founding Co-Director – oobe
Selling oobe but continuing our accounting relationship
When oobe’s founders decided to take their company to market, we knew the accounts were in excellent condition, and we were ready to support them through the challenging process.
The best feedback we could have asked for was the continued engagement of their personal tax and accounting support from all three founding directors. We look forward to continuing to support them in the next chapter of their lives.
